According to a report by the Saudi Gazette on May 3, 2024, the Saudi General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into the import of longitudinally welded circular cross-section stainless steel pipes from mainland China and Taiwan. This action aligns with the "Trade Remedies Law in International Trade" established on November 23, 2022.

The investigation aims to address concerns that these products may be dumped into the Saudi market, potentially harming the domestic steel industry. Under the regulations outlined in this law, GAFT is responsible for executing trade remedy tasks, including conducting investigations and taking measures, while adhering to the Kingdom's international commitments under various trade agreements such as the Anti-Dumping Agreement, the Subsidies and Countervailing Measures Agreement, and the Safeguards Agreement. The primary purpose of this law and investigation is to protect Saudi domestic industries from the adverse effects of dumped and subsidized imports, and to prevent surges in such imports that could jeopardize the economic interests of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
